    Frequently Asked Questions

Everything customers most commonly ask, answered plainly. If you don't see your question here, give us a call at (913) 565-GOLD (4653) and we're happy to walk through anything.

    Before you visit

You don't need to prepare anything special. Don't polish, clean, or try to repair items — we buy them as-is and cleaning can actually damage certain coins and reduce their value. Just gather everything and bring valid photo ID.

What to expect at the counter

Testing and pricing happen at the counter in front of you. You'll see the scale reading, the karat test, and the math. We explain everything and answer any question you have — no rushed sales pitch, no back-room evaluations.

    Frequently Asked Questions

    Do I need an appointment?

No, walk-ins are welcome. Appointments are recommended for larger collections or busy Saturdays and guarantee no wait.

    What ID do I need?

A valid driver's license, state ID card, or passport. Kansas law requires ID verification on every precious-metal purchase.

How old do I have to be to sell?

18 or older. Minors must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian who completes the transaction.

    Do you buy broken jewelry?

Yes. Broken chains, single earrings, damaged rings, tangled masses — all fine. Gold and silver are valued by weight and purity, not condition.

Do you buy gold-plated or gold-filled items?

Generally no. Gold plating and gold-filled items contain too little gold to recover economically. We test to confirm and let you know either way.

    Do you buy diamonds?

Yes, both loose diamonds and diamond jewelry. Bring any GIA or grading reports if you have them — they help us give you an accurate evaluation.

Do you buy sterling silver flatware and tea sets?

Yes, any .925 sterling silver. Full sets or partial, monogrammed or not, we buy all of it.

    How do you pay?

Cash for most transactions. Business check for larger amounts if preferred. Payment is same-day, before you leave.

Do you report transactions to the government?

As Kansas law requires, we report precious-metal purchases to the Lenexa Police Department. Cash transactions of $10,000 or more in a 24-hour window are reported to the IRS on Form 8300 per federal law. Everyday jewelry sales are not federally reported.

Is there a mandatory hold period?

Yes — Kansas requires precious-metal dealers to hold purchased items for 10 days from the date the transaction is reported to law enforcement. This is a statewide rule that applies to every licensed dealer.

Can I get a written quote to shop around?

Absolutely. We'll write down our offer and honor it for the day at the current market we quoted. Comparing offers is smart.

What if I change my mind?

No problem. If you haven't left with payment, we hand everything back. Once a sale is completed and cash has changed hands, the transaction is final.

    Do you buy watches?

We buy solid gold and platinum watches by weight. For high-end brands (Rolex, Cartier, Patek, Omega), value is often in the watch itself — bring it in for a proper evaluation.

How is your price better than mail-in buyers?

Mail-in operations pay some of the lowest rates in the industry because they have huge marketing costs and no local competition. In person, you see the math, you can walk away, and you get paid immediately.

    Are you licensed?

Yes — licensed and bonded as a precious-metal dealer in the state of Kansas.
